Better than Peavy/Young?

Without a doubt, Young isn't' near as good as the other 3 in that list regardless of his stats so far. He just screams regression to the mean.

I also think this means the Dbacks are in the playoff hunt next year, might sound strange to say that as they won the division last year but that was one of the worst division winning teams in recent history. More runs allowed than scored points to pure luck and other than Webb that was a terrible rotation going into this year so they needed this.

Carlos Gonzalez is way better than people seem to think. The Rockies don't have anyone that compares or that they can afford to deal. The Dbacks have a lot of depth at pretty much every position except pitcher and 2B (until now). The Rockies were forced to play Spielborghs last year, while the Dbacks had Quentin still on the bench along with Gonzalez waiting in Tucson. The Rockies have a few good arms in their system and couple good position guys like Fowler and Herrerra, but I don't think they have nearly enough to spare.

They do have Orlando at 2B who is pretty darn good.

Agreed, but I was talking more about depth though. Callaspo is decent and Bonifacio is a nice talent, but we don't have many major league ready guys at the position.

Carlos Gonzalez is the key to this trade. If he was a Yankee or Red Sox prospect their fans would be screaming about giving him up.

Callaspo was traded to the Royals for Billy Buckner.

Quantity over "household name" quality.

I love that they got Chris Carter (that's the 3B born in 1986 , Yahoo linked to the wrong one) , he should be a monstrosity ;-D

Brett Anderson really floats my boat as a prospect. ;-D

Aaron Cunningham could really be the dark horse here. He has the groovy OBPs and the time to learn at AAA.

Dana Eveland had been mucked around a lot and had a lost year in 2007. He could really be something if he gets the chance.

Greg Smith seems inconsistent, it's like he needs two tries to succeed at a level.

Carlos Gonzalez is easily the worst player that Oakland got. I don't know how he got to be a "household name" , but he doesn't walk much and he had a whole season at AA with a .330 OBP. I'm thinking Beane will trade him on to someone else because he is known/over-rated.

Not a bad trade overall. Three strong prospects and three "chances".

It's posssible, especially if you look at Young's home/away splits. !+) Haren is a very good pitcher, even though he doesn't have a lot "stuff"; getting a lot groundball outs, painting corners and not walking batters. I think he'll eat the National League up, and there should a drop in his ERA and WHIP with Hudson and Drew backing him up.

Moving from the Coliseum to Chase :-t :-t

The guy gave up a bunch of HRs for #1 or #2 starter in the Coliseum. Now in the new Launching pad it might be ugly.

8-o 8-o That is not true at all.

He is easily thebest player Oakland got. He has amazing bat speed. Has a plus arm and plus speed. His final 2 months he hit well over .330. He just turned 22 and could start in right for the A's today, but should probably spend a couple months in triple A.

Obviously what he looks like and what his total numbers are are two different things.
