Cliff Floyd and Jonny Gomes will be a platoon in RF next year. Floyd has a quick bat but is terrible against left handed pitching. As we all know, Go-Go Gomes can't hit right handed pitching (making contact against lefties isn't his specialty either). If Floyd stays healthy (he's logged more time on the DL than Rocco), this may be a source of good pop in the batting order...
Oh don't worry about middle relief pitching...The rays signed Gary Glover for 1.075 million and Grant Balfour for 500,000. I guess they want to continue with mediocrity this year. At least they got rid of Stokes and shawn camp...

Now, how about some fortifying middle relief...
Pretty solid signing in Floyd. If he stays healthy and hits righties at his normal .850+ OPS, our outfield and DH positions will look pretty solid if Gomes can handle the lefties. I would love to see one more relief pitcher signed, but that live arm may have to come from the minors as Kazmir and Pena need to get paid as well.
yes give KAZ his much obliged money, and give pena some as well, we need to keep both of them. well kaz long term at least. wheeler is also up for arbitration. middle relief... we signed troy percival, injury risk but everyone knows he is dangerous. we have reyes, if he does not break down again this year and keeps it up he is solid. we can reach a deal with wheeler and have him hold down a MR spot, but thats an IF we will see if the try to sign someone else who is above average to help out the pen. but i do like the floyd signing, and he wont be full time so his injury risk SHOULD go down. and i also like the fact that they gave him 3 mil, and he can earn 2 more for incentives instead of out right giving him 5 mill.

I guess you forgot about Reyes, Wheeler, Percy, Salas. Also, Balfour was decent last season and Glover had some bright spots

Balfour is OK for 1/2 mill. He has some talent and could be a decent 6th or 7th inning type of person, especially if he can continue to recover from surgery. Balfour, who missed 2 years due to injury, did show the ability to K batters before his surgery and also the ability to dominate lefties. He was at one time the closer of the future for the Twins, so he definitely has some talent. Glover on the other hand, is really a nightmare as a reliever. He can't get righties or lefties out with any type of consistency. But again it was only a million bucks, and we surely wouldn't have been able to get anybody any good for $1 million, so hopefully one of the AAA boys step up and we can send Glover packing.
