Breakdown of Aaron Rowand's contract
Under the terms of his deal with the Giants, Aaron Rowand gets a full no-trade clause for 2008 and a limited one after that.

Rowand is set to make $60 million over five years. He gets an $8 million signing bonus, with $4 million to be paid in 2008 and $4 million in '09, and salaries of $8 million in '08, $8 million in '09 and $12 million in each of the final three years of the contract.

Don't like the signing but I'll agree with what was posted earlier; If this deal keeps Cain or Lincecum in SF than that's good.

His defense is a huge improvement over Bonds. Even though he will be playing center, Roberts will be moves fro center to left. Good overall signing, not too sure about the money.

Just as we are beginning to clear all of the excess baggage contracts of the past (Feliz, Alfonzo, Nen, Matheny, Durham), we're starting to compile new ones (Winn, Zito, Rowand, ?). Typical Sabean, wrong guy wrong price, wrong term. Maybe he should let someone else do the negotiating.

So what, we didn't get Rios for Lincecum. We're still no better than if we still had Bonds. Who's going to hit around Rowand, or who is he hitting around. One or two bats are not going to cut it. Rowand has simply limited who else we can afford this year. As we're always told, the Giants own the stadium and still have to pay for it.

Send Sabean packing. But then again, I say that every year.
The glass is neither half full nor half empty... It is simply a glass
