In one of my leagues, every player you draft can be kept for up to three years. But, for each year you keep the player his salary increases by $5.

For example: If I initially draft a player for $10, he will cost me $15 in year two, and $20 in year three.

any number of ways/combinations

some leagues:
1)use set keeper length terms/unlimited
2)set a specific increase (any number of ways for example the post above)/never do any increases/set some minimums for all keepers

no right or wrong way

3-5 years tends to be a popular keepr limit with regard to #1
you can play around all over the place with #2

some people in your league may feel strongly about certain aspects so may want to do a majority vote beforehand or just lay down the "law" about what way the league will be
