I am fairly high on this guy finally putting together in 2008. Am I correct that he is a lock for the rotation and there is very little chance he starts the season in the pen?
He could and should be their #3 at worst. He stretched his arm out at the end of last year and did very well. I would expect him to be a very popular sleeper for the 3rd time in four years.

I doubt De La Rosa makes the rotation....if he does it won't last long.....at least I hope!! The only guys for sure are Meche, Bannister and Greinke. I was hoping we could find another closer so we could give Soria a shot in the rotation but it doesn't look like that will happen. Davies, Buckner and Hochevar are the likely in house candidates for the final 2 spots but even more likely is that we sign another SP to be our #4 so those others can play revolving door with the #5 spot.
Looks like I am not the only one hoping to get him for cheap. To me he is a entry-level four-cat SP: He will do above average (but not always by much) in WHIP, ERA, W and K. If you look around, guys like this are pretty hard to come by and tend to get undervalued since they don't put up gaudy numbers in any one category.
I guess some people would dispute that he will wind up with 10+ wins, but the Royals are building a decent bullpen this year, even if they play in a tough division. I think that anyone who puts in a quality season for the Royals will do all right with Ws this year. This is not a situation where a guiy will spit out a 3.50 ERA but only get 7 Ws.
