That show really sucks, I don't buy into the 5th graders. I heard something like that they do workbooks before the shows that have the questions in them amongst other questions.
I echo the sentiments of those who dislike this show. Next question: Can the host answer any of these freakin questions? The idea of the show itself is stupid. Adults live in the real world where it's not imperative to know who the first Chief Justice of the Supreme Court was. It's nice, but does it prove that a 5th grader is smarter than you? Pfft.
In regards to this particular contestant, I wonder what kind of a razzing he's getting from his students and the rest of the the faculty, assuming he still has a job.
I consider myself a bit of a history buff, but I know that John Jay was our first SCOTUS justice. OK, so I understand this being a bit of obscure information to your average American, but seriously, if your profession is "history" the you should know this. Should, no, you HAVE to know this. This is American History 101.
This stupid show makes me fear for our country's future.
And yes, good point; Jeff Foxworthy hosts this? Isn't he the epitome of "it's cool to be dumb and unsophisticated?" The entire Blue Collar joke of a comedy tour [Yes, I know Ron White is funny, ok?] perpetuates this idea that being smart or well-mannered is some sort of a stigma in good ole' boy American "culture."

I'm finding that a new trend with game shows is that they take way too long in between questions. Sorry but 1-2 questions in between commercial breaks is not nearly enough for me. I'd rather hear some trivia questions than watch a close up of some guy who hums and haws for five minutes while he babbles on about who's going to make fun of him if he doesn't get this question right.
I have always liked Jeopardy the best but I have even more of an appreciation for it now.

Excellent point, Jeopardy really keeps the show moving. They must ask at least 20x as many questions as any other game show.
He taught American History and didn't know that. I guess i could understand if he taught European or Ancient History...

sorry theres no way more than 90 % of 5th graders know that question...i challenge all of you guys with children to ask them this question, and i bet most of them have no chance.
