on a side note Hanley Ramirez was often looked at as over rated a couple years ago as a prospect. i wonder how many would have vetoed the beckett for hanley trade?

maybin is not as ready as hanley was, nor was beckett a top 6 pick.

Fantasy baseball doesn't correlate to real life unless you have a dynasty league with salary cap and contracts. In that case, yes this trade is fine.

If you're talking about your run-of-the-mill re-draft league, no this is an awful trade. The two don't relate to eachother.

I have no problem with the trade from the Marlins perspective. From a fantasy perspective, I think it would be one-sided.

Unless it is a dynasty, full-keeper, league - with contracts and years and all those extenuating circumstances - I would veto.

Last year Miguel Cabrera was traded in my league for Brandon Webb.

Valuing youth this much is how you put yourself in position to never win - trading studs for guys who "could be studs". For every "stud" that pans out, there is another one who fails. The sure thing is so much more valuable in a fantasy league.

If I were going to veto it in a dynasty league it would be the Marlins side I'd veto. Long term I think the Tigers got pwned. Of course that is assuming a league that includes some sort of fielding metric since Cabrera loses a ton of value from fielding in real baseball.

I agree, I think the Marlins did great in this deal. Miller is already worth more than D-Train and I wouldn't be surprised if he outperformed him in 08. Maybin is a top prospect and with all of those pitchers, I would say the odds are that at least one of them become successful in the majors.
