Holy Tigers Offense!!!!!!

Postby bosoxrock34 » Tue Dec 04, 2007 10:23 pm

If this deal goes through the tigers are gonna have one hell of an offense....

OF Granderson
SS Renteria
DH Sheff
3b Miggy cabrera
OF Ordonez
1b Guillen
C Rodriguez
OF Jaque Jones
2b Polanco

Not a Tigers fan so not really sure how there lineup was all year. Here is my guestemation. I know Polanco was in the 2 spot but is Renteria a better 2 man? I guess you could do whatever you wanted with the 7,8,9 spots. 3rd OF spot not sure who will get it but Tigers list Jaque Jones as LF on there depth chart.

That's key right there.

I love that offense though. Very balanced. FWIW, I'd hit Cabrera 3.

Sadly I doubt they outscore last seasons numbers by more than a few runs. Almost every hitter on their team played over their heads last year and Cabrera will just offset that.

The only guys I saw playing way above thier historical norms were Polanco and Maggs.
Guillen had his worst BA since coming to Detroit.
Sheff had his worst BA and OBP in over a decade.
Pudge had his 3rd lowest OBP for his career.
Granderson is only getting better.
They replaced Casey with Renteria - an offensive upgrade IMO.

Why do you think they were playing above themselves?

acs - you sound desperate dude.

Why couldnt Granderson repeat or even get better? It was only his 2nd yr in the majors.

Polly is largly considered one of the best #2 hitters in baseball.

Guillen as a #6 hitter is huge.

Pudge and Renteria as back of the order guys are fantastic. Name better #7 and 8 or 9 hitters.

Nice to see you btw...

I'm not trying to sound desperate (not sure what that means as I could care less what the tigers do) I just don't think its as good as everyone says it is.

Polanco is great but lets face it he's a single hitter
Granderson could get better but again he put up 20,20,20 I believe which is what the 3rd time that was ever done.

Guillen hasn't stayed healthy
Pudge is really regressing
Renteria is again a good average guy with low RBi's

They are going to have a nice offense. But it could turn into and average O with that injury history and some players regression.

All they did was add Miggy to the offense and renteria who although hits for a decent average doesn't do much more.
