Which up and coming Secondbasemen?

Postby J35J » Tue Dec 04, 2007 10:09 am

Ryan Theriot - Got the PT and showed his great eye with solid speed

or

Aaron Hill - A surge of power in a solid lineup, can he keep it up?

or

Dustin Pedroia - Bursted on the scene. Great eye and baseball IQ....what happens from here?

Pedroia - Best team, no injury or playtime concerns.

Hill - I don't think the power spike is completely for real, I think 13ish HR's is a more realistic number for him.

Theriot - He has a chance to play his way out of a job if he gets off to a slow start.

Definitely like Pedroia out of those 3.

I'm very interested in seeing what Hill does this year, he had a pretty random break out year last year, will be cool to see him repeat that.

At this point, I'd rank Theriot the lowest as he hasn't shown/proven much on the field thus far in his career

I'll take Hill over Pedroia and won't consider Theriot at all.

im going to go against the crowd here and say i prefer theriot. hill nor pedroia have any power or sb potential that can make a difference, but theriot could probably swipe 30+ while maintaining a high average.

Bingo. You've read my mind.

None of the 3 above will likely be starters in any 12 team mixed leagues(at least not on my teams) so who would you want as a backup? Hill and Pedroia with limited upside or Theriot who can potentially be a .300+ hitter with 30+ SBs? This question will likely be easier to answer when spring training rolls around we can see how Theriot does and if he plans on getting his 500+ ABs.

I think Hill's power surge was definitely for real, it had been a long time coming. The problem was it came at the expense of what used to be a good OBP. If he can get those two things together, the Jays will have a very good offensive and defensive 2B on their hands for a long time.

I won't disagree....just another thing to watch during spring training.
