I'd take Konerko for 08. I need to see Pena do it again.

I was very tempted to say I'd prefer Pena, but then I was surprised to find out Konerko was only 31 last year. He's not necessarily old enough to call his slip last year the beginning of a downward trend.

I have Konerko over Pena for next season. Like Yoda said, I still need to see one more to believe that he has turned into what he was supposed to be when he was taken in the first round.

It will be interesting to see if he can repeat his season.

Also the Rays have a history of messing with players playtime. If Pena gets off to a slow start I could easily see him lose AB's against lefties even with the great year he put up last year.

They don't really have anyone else to play 1B at the moment if he does struggle

In a way, I'm glad Konerko had an off year last year and that Pena had such a good one. Konerko can be had pretty late in drafts this year I've been finding, so if he even moderately returns to form his value will be fantastic. Fantastic along the draft-him-as-your-util-then-trade-your-primary-1B-for-a-stud-OF-and-shift-Konerko-up lines.

So yeah, Konerko.

I'd go with Konerko, as well. Like an above poster mentioned, Konerko's value will probably drop some and Pena's will rise - only off one season's stats.
