Offline Draft Info

Postby JimmyBaseball » Mon Dec 03, 2007 4:43 pm

Hey Everyone,

I've actually posted in here before as "Homer" or something like that...but I lost my screen name and had to get a new one (so its not really my first post). But my question is this:

So this year my league is not all away at college and we want to do an offline draft complete with a draft board, timer, keg, etc. A couple of the guys and I were talking yesterday about what kind of rules to have for the draft. One good one we like is that if someone goes over their time limit the next drafter can jump in and make their pick. We threw around a lot of different ideas. I thought I'd run the question through here to see if anyone can point me somewhere where we can see what other drafts do or see some other rules we may want to create.

Also, There are tons of places I've seen where we could buy things like a draft board, player names & position on tags, etc., but if anyone has any suggestions of really good ones to buy or to stay away from, your input would be appreciated.

Wow baseball is months away, I can't believe we're already talking about this,

You seem like you know what your doing other then the fact of a timer, I mean in most offline drafts its not really a problem. You don't need an actual timer you can just influence the person who is taking a long time.

I agree. Most drafts keep moving in a timely fashion. If someone is slowing things down, just ridicule them a little and the draft will get going again. My only advice would be not the get to carried away. I have seen some instances where feelings do get hurt. So, just keep everything fun and friendly and there shouldn't be a problem.

So, not too many rules to T-off some people, huh? Good idea. I don't want everyone mad before the season starts.

Any good place to order player names/stickers from for the draft? Or do people create them themselves?

I have gotten draft boards at http://www.fjfantasy.com.

IMO, they are kind of pricey. We used them for the first year and then after that everyone just kind of kept track on things on their own on paper. The Commish and/or Auctioneer would keep the master.

Every year, Buffalo Wild Wings doeas fantasy baseball and football promotions. Call them up as soon as they announce it and snag a hosted party at BWW. You get $100 free food, a draft board and stickers, and a zillion screens running sports center all over the place.
