So - Oliver Perez

This guy put up some really nice numbers in 2004 but other than he really struggled until 07 when his numbers were pretty respectable. Does anybody know what happened to result in his plus 6 ERA and what changed in 07 - opinions on wether or not he can "keep up the good work"?

its all about his control and mechanics. he was all over the place and couldnt throw strikes. if you look deeper into his numbers last year, you'll see that he had stretches of great games and then the games where he loses control of everything. a very up and down pitcher.

Interesting - so basically he's the kind of guy who will go out and pitch a gem right after you dump him for struggling.

He will get my avoid stamp from me until the 15th round comes along. But going by his 2007 overall #'s somebody will take the risk earlier than that.

He is certainly the type I will be looking to take a late round flier on. His cumulative numbers were very solid.

August/September were pretty bad though. I would like to see what his velocity is at this spring.

He doesn't have problems with velocity, he usually dials it up when it he gets into trouble and that only makes it worse.
