Hu, Chin-lung SS LA Need some insight

Postby Bigball » Fri Nov 30, 2007 11:52 am

I need some knowledge on this guy.
Does anyone have any insight on him.

I was offered a trade that involved him and Ty Wiggy for Steve Drew and just wanted to see if he is legit.

I am not going to do the trade but I would like to see what people think of him.
its the biggest no brainer in the history of earth....

Hu is a very good defensive shortstop. Offensively, he's limited. I'd expect something like .275 with 10-15 home runs and 15 stolen bases. His value as a prospect is more in his glove than his bat.

There's no doubt Hu's glove is ahead of his bat, but he did manage to show a little offense life this past season hitting .325 w/ 15 HR.

Sure, but he was ultimately repeating Double-A and his 200-some-odd Triple-A plate appearances were marked by an unusually high line drive percentage for Hu suggesting he was more lucky than anything at the Triple-A level. I wouldn't read too much into the production of a 23 year old repeating Double-A.
