The Trop will only be 22 years old in 2012. It seems like a little bit of waste, no?

I agree that the Trop is a terrible ballpark, but it did open in the 1990s and it did cost 130 million dollars. I guess it did fulfill it purpose of louring a team to Tampa, but still...
A new stadium is not going to bring in enough extra revenue to be worthwhile for the team to pay for. The does not seem like it is threatening to move, so it is not a good investment of Tampa tax dollars either.

Umm... Hello? Global warming?? Rising oceans???
Oceans are not rising very quickly, if at all. With sea level rise accelerating at the rate is has been for the past 100 years, it will rise another 28 - 34 cm by 2100.
I don't think a foot higher sea level in 100 years is going to impact the stadium that much.

They are not putting a retractable roof on it? That's as crazy as the new stadium in Minnesota not having a roof on it, for the totally opposite reason. I realize the cost for a roof is another $100+M, but still.
