Another Interesting Mock draft

Postby rotoquest » Tue Nov 27, 2007 6:42 pm

Another mock draft done by mostly cafe members is on the way at couchmanagers.com. This time it is a ten teamer for those of you in smaller leagues. Though it is better than the usual cbs mock drafts out there, there have been few if any extreme surprises so far. This should help with at least your top 150.

I think Phillips and Markakis would qualify as suprises. :-?

Markakis was early but Phillips wasn't, I'm expecting him to go in the late 2nd/early 3rd area because he's a 2b that went 30/30 in a hitter's paradise, what's not to like?

Is it just me or is Markakis overrated in non keeper leagues going into 08?

i'm on the fence about markakis. his stats are impressive, but it took him a lot of abs to get there. i think he'll go too high for my taste.

I think that's a reach for Markakis.

I understand your concerns, but I would like to help you get off the fence on him. Once thing that jumped out at me when I looked at his 2007 numbers were his solid to great output against his divisional opponents. That's 70ish games a year.

vs. BOS 20-70 (.286) 4HR 12RBI 14 Runs in 18 games
vs. NYY 29-72 (.403) 2HR 13RBI 15 Runs in 17 games
vs. TOR 25-72(.347) 3HR 11 RBI 12 Runs in 18 games
vs. TB 21-67 (.313) 4HR 16RBI 8 Runs in 18 games

That's a total of 95-281 (.338) 13 HR 52 RBI 49 Runs in 71 games.

Couple those stats with a strong home hitters park and Markakis should be able to recreate his numbers in '08.

yes...but are his stolen bases repeatable? It doesn't appear as though his history bears that out. And that is part of what is driving his value up isn't it?
