ESPN 1000 also just reported this and also speculated that Borass and Maddux could meet in Chicago today face to face to seal up the deal with the Cubs!!

If the Cubs ink Maddux to a deal, they have to be the leading candidates to win the World Series. I mean if Patterson can stay healthy this season and produce like he started off last year, pluss the additions of D.Lee, T.walker, and L.Hawkins, make the Cubs look unbeatable in a 5 or 7 game series.

Last year was also Baldelli's "best" year.
Cubs would look good, but Maddux is asking for too much money.

I'm just using it as an example. Baldelli's average dropped 34 points after the all-star break, and yet you are very high on him.
Regardless, I don't want to hijack this thread. Like I said before, Maddux is asking for too much money.

yet he still finishes with a higher batting average by 6 points and 18 more hits.. hmm

Justin, listen to me. I'm not attempting to compare Walker and Baldelli, quite the contrary, I believe Baldelli is a better player overall. But when you consider the fact that you are down on Walker because of a 19-point decrease in average, it only seems logical you would be down on Baldelli as well, because Baldelli's drop-off was much greater.
