I like Lirano to start 25 games and have 150-160IP this year. His TJ surgery will be 18 months ago in May 08, the normal recovery period. In a non-keeper roto, he'll be worth taking in the 90-100 range, much sooner in a keeper.

Baseball Prospectus rolled out their 2008 projections last week.

Zips does a pretty nice job also and they rolled out their Excel sheet today:

He threw 110 IP as a rookie and went 3.67/1.27, and that includes a start in Colorado where he was Yosted (2.2 IP, 11 ER, why was a 21 year old left in that long?). The WHIP seems too high for sure to me. I'm just a little surprised to see a regression like that predicted. I also think Billingsley will outperform that projection.

"Yosted"

lol

Yeah, that got me too. :-b ;-D

Depends on how you use them. I look at them to confirm my own feelings about a player but then if a certain projection system seems completely out of whack, it makes me rethink about that player. I compare all the projections and make sure that I didn't miss something. If you use one projection system as your bible then yeah, all of them are ridiculous.

Fantasy Baseball hub has a few more projections linked on their site. Sport Fanatics and Diamond Draft or something like that I think

Seems like he's a little too conservative with almost every hitter and a little bullish on pitchers but I guess at least they aren't all over the place like some projections tend to be.

I agree that using them strictly to set up a draft list is bad, but that they should be used to check your ranking values. For instance if you have player A ranked higher than player B (by whatever rankings, average, etc you use) but when you look at what you consider reasonable projections for them player B is more valuable or fits your team better you might want to at least question why player A is ranked higher.

Anyway... thanks for the rankings! ;-D
