New PC Games

Postby Field » Sun Nov 18, 2007 3:02 pm

I haven't played PC games in a few years, and I was thinking about picking up one or two. Any suggestions?

I like strategy games for the most part, but I'm looking to get some variety as well. The Warcraft series, Civilazation, Age of Empires, Caesar have all been favorites in the past.

If you like strategy games then I would try Company of Heroes. It is a WWII real time strategy game that is loosely based on historical events. Very cool.

Also, even though I don't have it yet, I would recommend the Orange Box. If you haven't played Half Life 2, then it comes with the original game plus Episodes I, II, Portal and Team Fortress 2 (multiplayer shooter). I'm playing HL2 for the second time around so that I can play Epi I, II when I get the Orange Box. Also heard great things about Team Fortress 2.

The Following games just came out that I'd recommend:

Crysis
Gears of War
Unreal Tourney 3
Company of Heroes (Expansion)
Quake Wars
Orange Box
jericho
hellgate london
Time Shift
COD4

considering his PC is few years old and hasn't been upgraded, most of the games ACS mentions wouldn't run well enough to be enjoyable. since he seems to enjoy strategy games anyways, he can always try the latest installment of all of those games he mentions. civ4 is always a good buy, but be warned you will waste tons of time on it.

Oh I didn't put two and two together. I figured he just got a new PC. On reading it doesn't show that.

I remember playing the first version of this game when I was a kid. I think it might have been the first PC game I ever played besides MacBrickout. I don't think I was old enough to understand all of the concepts behind being a "Lounge Lizard" though :-b .

Thanks for all of the ideas guys. I don't have a home PC, but I do have a Dell Inspirion 17" laptop. It's not the greatest for PC games, but most games play smoothly. Does anyone recommend any upgraded hardware that I can buy to improve gaming performance?

I don't know if I dare buy Civ 4 as it would reduce social interaction exponentially X-I . :-D

I had a dell Insprion 17" with a go 6800 card. It was a pretty sweet laptop. Most games will play on it as long as they aren't brand new (Last years games probably fine at medium settings).
