The guy puts a bunch of work into it instead of just comparing players who played at different times at different positions. I'm excited to see the rest of the list.

that's pretty cool. Sometimes you forget just how awesome certain players single seasons were. I look forward to the rest of the list.

Randy Johnson was such a monster in his prime years during the late 90s and early 00s, I remember taking him as a top 3 pick on a routine basis, probably 1st overall many times.

I'd argue Pedro's seasons were more impressive.

Larry Walker takes home the best season ever.

I wonder how long it's going to take him to roll out the whole list. If you go to the home page Randy Johnson's 2001 season is ranked 21st.

In our 20-team league the guy that had Larry Walker in '97 won hands down wire-to-wire - only time that's happened in our league (est.1991). He also had Curt Schilling and his 319 K's for something like $4 as he was auctioned a couple years previous as damaged goods.

Pedro has some of the most impressive single seasons in the history of the game, I'd find it hard to argue that considering the era and such that many people put together better single seasons than him in his prime.

There have been threads on this debate previously, and I remember the ultimare consensus was Ricky Henderson in '87. Can remember exactly, but he had something like 25 HRs and 100+ SBs. I think the idea was that SBs are so perponderantly valuable that this outclasses guys with power numbers like Walker. If you are applying Henderson '87 to 2007 there is a case for this, but SBs were much more prevelant in '87 and therefore not as valuable on a relative basis, so I do not really concur.
