Established keeper league looking for replacement owners

Postby fantasma » Wed Nov 07, 2007 3:20 am

Looking for new owners for an established, active, 15-team 5x5 mixed-league roto keeper league, now going into its fifth year. Teams carry both major league and (7-player) minor league rosters. Several cafe regulars are members. We keep 4 regular players, 1 “rookie”, and 4 minor league players each year. Activity goes year round, using Yahoo during the season and a group site during the offseason. We do a slow draft starting in early January.

This year, we have one owner dropping out, and we’re cutting a couple inactive owners, so we have several teams open. We’re looking for serious, committed, extremely active owners to take over those teams.

There is a small, $10 fee per team, with all money going toward prizes for the top 5 finishers ($75 for first, then $30, $20, $15, and $10)

If you are interested, please email me at mailto:gdkasper@yahoo.com with information about you and your fantasy baseball experience.

Man... I am sorely tempted to apply, but I don't know if I can do three leagues next year. I'd have to pick between this and the "experts" league.

Choices, choices... :-/

Can you shoot me some info via PM? O:-)

One of our new owners has had to drop out, so we're looking for an active, committed person to take his place...

League basics, again, are the following:

* 15 team league, mixed AL/NL, going into its 5th season
* Keeper format
* Rotisserie style scoring - 10 categories (BA HR SB R RBI W SV ERA WHIP K)
* 25 player rosters
* 18 active players (c,1b,2b,3b,ss,mi,ci,of,of,of,u,sp,sp,sp,rp,rp,p,p), 7 bench slots, and 2 injured reserve spots
* 7 player minor league rosters
* Daily lineups
* Internet-based, as a Yahoo private league
* Slow snake draft, using a Yahoo group site, beginning at the start of February
* $10 league cost, all going toward prize money. Prize money distribution is: 1st: $75; 2nd: $30; 3rd: $20; 4th: $15; and 5th: $10
* Keepers:
- 4 major league players selected from the team roster
- 1 "rookie" keeper, who used up his MLB rookie eligibility in the just completed season
- 4 additional minor league players from a team's final major or minor league roster may be selected as keepers, provided they have not played enough in the major leagues to invalidate their rookie status for the next year (130 at-bats or 50 innings pitched in the Major Leagues - service time limits do not apply).

Here's the roster of the available team:

Arrgh... a second new owner has had to drop out. Very frustrating. But it means we have one more opening for someone... Please do not apply unless you are serious about committing to the time it takes to manage a team actively (meaning you check it every day), and for the long term.

We need the new owner ASAP, as keeper selections are due on Tuesday, Jan 8, and the slow draft begins on Jan 18.

The team that is now available is:
P. Lo Duca (NYM - C)
Dm. Young (Was - 1B)
R. Cano (NYY - 2B)
S. Rolen (StL - 3B)
R. Furcal (LAD - SS)
R. Zimmerman (Was - 3B)
J. Peralta (Cle - SS)
J. Bay (Pit - OF)
J. Francoeur (Atl - OF)
C. Quentin (Ari - OF)
J. Giambi (NYY - 1B)
A. Ethier (LAD - OF)
K. Mench (Mil - OF)
L. Milledge (NYM - OF)
R. Garko (Cle - 1B)

D. Haren (Oak - SP)
B. Penny (LAD - SP)
A. Harang (Cin - SP)
J. Broxton (LAD - RP)
T. Gordon (Phi - RP)
J. Schmidt (LAD - SP)
J. Francis (Col - SP)
M. Mussina (NYY - SP)
T. Gorzelanny (Pit - SP)
B. Looper (StL - SP,RP)
A. Heilman (NYM - RP)
J. Marquis (ChC - SP)
J. Contreras (CWS - SP)

B. Wood(LAA-SS)
C. Carillo(SD-SP)
U. Jimenez(Col-SP)
N. Walker(Pit-C)
L. Hochevar(KC-SP)
D. Fowler(Col-OF)
D. Guerra(NYM-SP)

Only Jimenez is eligible as a rookie keeper.

If you are interested, please email me about your fantasy baseball experience at gdkasper@yahoo.com.

Thanks!
