Apparently Dombrowski is putting in some overtime today... signed Johnny Cakes as well.

Todd Jones, one year $7M.

My only question is how much more could it have cost to get Rivera or Cordero?

In any case, it was a need. I has been addressed. The guy is scary as hell, but he only blew 6 saves last year. Not too shabby. The bullpen on this team is again going to be patchwork and sketchy, but at least we know he's looking at it.

Yankees Sign Posada - 4 Years, $52MM

Mark Feinsand has the scoop: the Yankees beat the buzzer and signed Jorge Posada to a four-year, $52MM contract. Omar Minaya was ready to pounce, but Brian Cashman got it done. Posada jumps above Ivan Rodriguez as the game's highest-paid catcher.

I'm glad they got this done. The contract won't be that bad as they can move him to 1B/DH. He's a Yankee great and I hope this gurantees he retires a Yankee. ;-D

It almost did not happen. The report I first posted in the rumors said he didn't sign, but they released a new one a couple minutes later 8-o

Ramon Castro wrapped up a two-year deal yesterday to remain a Met, and looks forward to pairing with Yorvit Torrealba behind the plate, provided the organization completes an agreement for that free-agent catcher today.

Castro's contract, worth just over $4 million, won't be official until he takes a physical. Torrealba will decide today, agent Melvin Roman indicated, seemingly tipping his hand by adding: "All I can say is Omar (Minaya) and the Mets have done a tremendous job."
