I was reading on rotoauthority that the last 3 months of this past season billingsley k'd 30+ each month. that means he was on pace to k 180 however he started the season in the bull-pen. He struck out about a abtter every 1.04 innings. With a little improvement and starting the season as a starter billingsley should easily k 200+
8 people did it this year and he doesn't seem to belong with those names.
He certainly has the talent but I don't think he has the stamina yet to do it. He was able to last longer last year because he started in the pen. He'll wear down if he started the entire season and K'd 200+. He could do it but chances are he won't in 08.

He'd have to throw 220+ IP next year to make 200Ks, IMO. He'll likely get around 180IP which puts him at around 165Ks next year. This is all based on the thought of him getting around 8 to 8.2 K/9. Which is what he had post allstar break this year.
I'm as big a Dodger homer out there, but I don't think Bills will record 200 K's next year. We're hoping that in the next 3-4 years he can though, given his stuff and potential.
I think Bills' key is pitch count efficiency. Like Brad Penny, his stuff tends to induce a good deal of foulballs, which could deter him from going long into games. This can of course get him into trouble with walks. Billingsley has that great slider that will keep opposing batters off-kilter, but I can see that his best approach is to concentrate on getting hitters out on balls in play as much as K'ing the opposition.
Where do you guys see him ranked next year? CBS.Sports came out with their earl early rankings and they have him as the 48th overall SP, which seems about right. Though, I think he'll be ranked a little higher than that come season's end.

I just checked the rankings and I must say, those are pretty poor SP rankings.
Billingsly should probably be moved up 10 slots, there are a lot of pitchers above him that he should outperform next year even if he only goes 180 innings. 35-40 overall seems right for him.
They also have Buccholtz at 100 which is completely absurd (on the low end) if he starts the season in the rotation. Aside from an injury, there is pretty much zero chance of him not being in the rotation in 08. They can have Aaron Cook, I'll take Clay.
