Questions....

Postby J35J » Tue Oct 09, 2007 5:05 pm

I understand that some/alot of these decisions will be decided in the future but if any of the hometown guys have any insight that would be great. And, yes, I realize there are alot of scrubs in this list but I'm in a couple "Only" leagues and this info is helpful!

I'll have plenty more questions to add, but here is a start..... ;-D

Chicago White Sox - Joe Crede v Josh Fields
LA Angels - Mike Napoli v Jeff Mathis....how about PT for Aybar?
Chicago Cubs - Jason Kendall v Geovany Soto AND Mark DeRosa v Mike Fontenot and does Eric Patterson fit in anywhere?
Colorado Rockies - Chris Iannetta...whats the plans? Are they signing Torrealba? What are the plans for Quintanilla?
Oakland A's - Daric Barton v Dan Johnson
St. Louis Cardinals - Scott Rolen...how is he doing? Is he going to be 100% come next year?
Arizona Diamondbacks - Chris Snyder v Miguel Montero...how about PT for Callaspo?
Cleveland Indians - Asdrubal Cabrera v Josh Barfield
LA Dodgers - Any PT for Andy LaRoche and/or Tony Abreu

Snyder should see about 100-110 starts for AZ. Montero will still be the backup. As for Callaspo I don't know. Depends on what they do with Hudson and all of the corner IF they have.

Chicago White Sox - Joe Crede v Josh Fields

I would think Crede plays third and Fields plays left field.

Chicago Cubs - Jason Kendall v Geovany Soto AND Mark DeRosa v Mike Fontenot and does Eric Patterson fit in anywhere?

As far as Kendall goes, I know his contract expired and he'll be a free agent. Soto is the catcher of the future for the Cubs and is a better all around catcher than Kendall.

I think what's a given is that Laroche will get a crack at the 3B job. He's perhaps at the right age to take it over, as long as he improves his plate discipline. Abreu looks to me to be more like a utility infielder to start when Kent sits.

In Oakland 1st base is Barton's to loose. He will be the 1B in 08. I wouldn't be surprised if Johnson was moved this offseason.

Rumor in cleveland is that asdrubal will be the starting shortstop next year. He has a far superior glove over peralta. I'm not sure what that means for barfield because then they would have to trade peralta or move him to 2nd base.

Agreed. Barton is just a better hitter period. Oakland might shift Johnson to DH, but I think Cust has earned that spot for next year.
