mlb.com has the whole game for free...just fast forward to the last inning :)

As for the hesitation if you look at the angle the umpire can't tell if he has the ball or not I believe. I think barrett kinda caught the ball with his crotch and then it bounced away. I think the ump was looking for the ball. When he saw that it was not in barretts glove I believe it was one of those "understood" rules of baseball and it went the rox's way.

The umpire was very methodical (slow) with his ball/strike calls throughout the game so his call at the plate being slow didn't surprise me really. Just seems to be the way the guy calls games. Either way he made the call that he felt was right.

Looking at the replays last night, I thought it was clear he was out. I did not feel he touched the plate, and I think the Ump made the wrong call. Hats off to the Padres for the way they took this, because they got hosed.

So what about when Garrett hit the HR that mysterious bounced like a rocket off of some soft foam

I'm the lone ranger. I voted safe. I would have voted inconclusive earlier, but the fact that Matt has cleat marks on his hand indicates it was under Barrett's foot. If it was under Barrett's foot, it was inline to touch the plate, at least from what I see from the 3rd base camera.

I said inconclusive, but I don't see why it really matters. Baseball is full of judgement calls, and this was another one of them, it's just part of the game.

Its rare that instant replay doesn't give the answer but this one and IMO, Atkins' "HR" were both inconclusive. In the end the two calls evened out so neither team has any right to complain.

Even if he didn't touch the plate, it was fielder's interference so he was safe anyway.
