I always heard it was hard to gain points in AVG late in the season but this guy in my league has brought his AVG up from .293 to .298 in less than 2 weeks while I have fallen from .297 to .294. We play with 12 hitters. Heres a few reasons, stats from the past week:
Pujols= .381
Figgins= .333
Jeter= .387
C. Jones= .522
Ichiro= .480
Alou= .522
Loretta= .400

Well, it is hard to gain in average, because to make movement, you need that kind of production, which does not happen often.

By then end of the season you have so many at-bats as a team that mathematically every hit makes very little difference.

you need your guys on fire, and the other guys in the pits. Or scalding performances. Sounds like he got them.
