Dang you discovered our secret. :-C
Just relying on Vegemite and Kangaroo steaks for nutrition makes more sense to me then an insane "pay as you use" health system like USA has.
Everyone has the right to free/cheap health here and that's the way it should be. :-)
If I needed to I could see my GP (local doctor) with about 2 hours notice - for about $5. ;-D ;-D ;-D ;-D ;-D

That's a little overkill, isn't it.

Apparently, you have never experienced the miracle of Vegemite. }:-)

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

I don't think that this is a totally bad idea, as the health care system is in serious need of reform but I am not sure that mandating coverage will actually cure the problems we have as much as restructure them and get government into it in a bigger way.

I think that managing it through price controls would be the way to go. It would make billing less of a headache for doctors, make bills intelligible for patients, make insurance companies more administrators of benefits than bothersome pains in the wazoo. In some ways, I suspect that greater government involvement might actually amount to a form of price controls because of the way 'reasonable and customary' medical fees tend to be calculated. This plan doesn't do enough to explore and perhaps limit the way in which doctors and patients also contribute to the problems with the system.

At this point though, it looks as if this may be the plan that we will end up with?

Well, there is a pesky thing called an election that she has to win first. ;-)

Right, however it seems at least reasonable to suggest that she's the leading Dem at this point, facing divided Republicans? :-?

I was leaning towards voting for her, but now I want to hear exactly how much of my money that I work for that she's going to force me spend on my health.

For a second I thought it was April 1st, but alas it isn't. You couldn't have seriously bought anything she's said in the past six years have you? She's nothing more than a poll-driven socialist.

Not that I'm a Hillary fan, but I think that nearly every politician is a "poll-driven" <fill in the blank>.

Actually, I'm stupid when it comes to next year's election. Seriously and honestly, I know next to nothing, and possibly absolutely nothing. I don't like politics and don't care for them at all, so I've paid very little attention to anything as far as politics go for next year's election. All I know is the big names that are up: Obama, Clinton, and Edwards. I don't see Obama as our next president, I believe the country is still too racist for that to happen (sorry, just a sad truth), regardless of if he's the best candidate or not (and like I said, I have no clue). Edwards will be too tied up as a puppet for the Republican party to do what needs to be done or what he believes needs to be done, and I'm sick of the whole Dem/Rep fiasco, and the last thing we need is a puppet as president. So that leaves Hillary. Supposedly she's good with money (which this country sorely needs), and she was married to a past president, so having a bit of experience in that, along with being able to talk to Bill about some things is a bonus. She makes the best choice of the two options in my mind based on those things. Now, I very well could be wrong about any or all of what I've written, I honestly don't have a clue. I've made no decision, I side with no party, and I could care less about most of the entire thing. I figured once it gets closer and all of the details on their campaigns come out, I'd take a look and decide who to vote for. Along with paying attention to the discussions here of course. We've got highly intelligent people here and I do listen extra close to what some of the guys post up because I know they are much more educated than me when it comes to politics. If Hillary is a bad choice, please tell me why. Acting like I'm stupid for leaning towards Hillary (or at least I was leaning that way) doesn't accomplish anything because I acknowledge I'm stupid in this area, and even if I wasn't stupid in this area, it still accomplishes nothing. I'm more than happy to read your thoughts on her though, so feel free to tell me what you know about her (goes for anyone and any candidate). :-)
