Diamondbacks All-Star second baseman Orlando Hudson will have season-ending surgery on Monday to repair a torn ligament in his left thumb. Hudson injured the thumb while sliding head first into third base Tuesday night. He played with the injury Wednesday, but left the game in the seventh inning and has been out since. "It's not an injury you can play with," manager Bob Melvin said. "It's the right thing to do. We hoped it would get better but it really needs surgery. It's the type of thing you want to do right away."
