K's Count (Ranking with batter's strikeouts)

Postby ironman » Thu Feb 12, 2004 1:46 pm

My League is 6x6 H2H scoring on Yahoo where the 6th batting category is strikeouts. Almost all rankings and cheat sheets out there are based on 5x5 and don't factor strikeouts. Using projections from rototimes I have done rankings based on the traditional 5 categories plus strikeouts. Here's what came out.

Please note these rankings are purely statistical and I have not made any adjustments based on age, injury-risk, astrology sign, length of "Big-League" mullet, or other parameters.

There will come a day when Barry Bonds leaves baseball, and everything about the game will be the better for it.

:-? Not much response. I'll attribute it to a lot of leagues not using K's as a stat category.

funny to see that soriano is STILL the top 2B even with K's. Shows how far ahead of the pack he is.

If I was in a leauge like that, K's by a batter would be one stat I would almost completely ignore (Hernandez notwithstanding) while drafting. It's like trying to win the shorthanded points category in a roto-hockey pool. Very much based on luck.
Bah, humbug.

Thanks for the rankings Ironman,

My league like yours uses K's for hitters as a negative stat.

I usually don't pay too much attention to it, other then avoiding hitters with horrible BB/K ratios, unless its say Preston Wilson last year hitting at Coors, I could live with those K's.
