Yankees call up IAN KENNEDY!!!

kennedy has been called up to start sat against devil rays he will replace mussina in rotation... so days after torre said he wont be called up here he is . he is the 3rd of the yankees trio.


minor league numbers this yr A-AAA
12-3 with a 1.91 ERA and 163 strikeouts in 146 1/3 innings.


i guess hes worth a pickup but not sure how long he will be in rotaion.

CBS has him On waivers until Saturday morning (9/1)

is he as good as Phil Hughes?

Kennedy does not have the raw "stuff" of Hughes (or Chamberlain) but he's got good control and keeps the ball down. Impossible to know anything based on one start but he's probably worth a pick-up if you need pitching help down the stretch.
