Just kinda shook my head when I read this....

Aug 28 Jeter played in Monday's game against the Tigers, Newsday reports.
Recommendation: "I asked him if he needed another day and he said there was no chance," coach Joe Torre said. You can't expect a guy like Jeter to miss much time when his team is fighting for a playoff spot.


Uhhh, OK - "What a warrior" - I guess. It seems to me that he's part of the problem - not a part of the solution. He's batting in the .150's lately, with 1 RBI in the last week and 8 RBI's in the last month. If the excuse for his poor play is that he's tired, I'd think he's doing the team more good by resting whatever it is that's wrong with him, cuz he's been useless for quite some time now....

While Jeter has been slumping lately, I don't see why Torre wouldn't listen to him. I don't think it's necessarily the fact that Jeter is a "warrior," and he's fighting through some ailment that's killing his production. It's more likely that he's just in a slump. Jete's a captain and he's going to do what's best for his team.

If it makes you feel any better, he put one out tonight. As a Jeter owner, I'm hoping it's a sign of things to come...
