Abreu is sitting again tonight vs. Miller. My question is why is he hitting lefties so badly this season? The last 3 years his splits show a .265 to .295 increase in his ability to hit lefties. Perhaps he has a nagging injury that affects his swing against lefties? Anyone know why he is doing so bad this year against lefties?

A lot of his ABs against lefties came earlier in the season when he wasn't hitting anyone - lefty or righty. The Yankees have been sitting him against lefties since the offense took off. If Abreu would get more chances to hit lefties since he's been hot, I think his numbers against them would be closer to his norm.

I think he has been hitting all pitchers well lately, even lefties. Not sure why he is sitting against lefties...

He sits against lefties now because the Yankees want to get Duncan at bats.

Exactly. The Yanks have 11 hitters they want to start and only 9 slots to start them in. Damon, Giambi and Duncan are all competing for at-bats in the DH slot. If they have an excuse to sit Abreu, then they have enough talent sitting on the bench that they figure they might as well do it.
