I was looking for the previous thread on this topic but couldn't find it .... anyone's who's been lucky enough to watch this Mets/Padres series, with the play-off feel, HAS to agree that Jose Reyes is the most exciting player in baseball. The second he gets to first with a base hit, you just assume he's going to find a way to score....
It was awesome when he stole 3rd last night. everybody in the stadium knew he was trying to do and he did it without even a throw. Hanley can't do that yet.
I whole-heartedly agree. Combine his base-stealing with his triples and you have yourself a great show. A lot of attention has gone to the long ball these days, which is understandable. But that is exciting right when it happens. The best thing about Reyes is that once he gets a hit or walks, the tension and excitement builds because you just know he's gonna end up on 2nd, probably 3rd and probably home. 11 SB in the past 8 games. I think with Rickey Henderson as the new 1st base coach, he has taken it to the next level. I can't wait to see the #'s he posts next year.
I can't deny that Reyes is an excellent and exciting player, I suppose I just get tired of seeing the attention the left side of the Met's infield gets when Hanley and Miguel Cabrera are putting up better numbers on a far weaker team and never seem to get the recognition they deserve.

I'm not saying that Wright/Reyes are better (or worse) than Miggy/Hanley. I'm a Mets fan, so of course I'm biased. I even posted in another thread that I'd prefer Hanley on my fantasy roster in certain situations and I traded in 2 leagues for Miggy. Unfortunately they don't play in the NY market so they'll never get the recognition they deserve...
With that said, neither of them are as exciting as Reyes. As both willy and nyrblue said - it's about when he gets on base. There's just so much tension build-up it's incredible. I've been watching baseball for a good number of years now and I've never seen anything like it...
