In a single word: No. He's being replaced by Stauffer for today's start and his start late next week is still in doubt.
[Bud]Black reported that things are status quo with injured pitcher Chris Young, who'll remain in San Diego while the Padres finish the weekend series here.
Young, who was to start tomorrow's game here, is resting and getting treatment for the lower-back inflammation that forced him out of Tuesday's game in New York.
“All I know is he's better than yesterday,” Black said. “Things are still up in the air as far as his next start after (tomorrow). The following game is a possibility.”
Please any new! Our playoffs start this week...I need to know if he is going to pitch this week. I need help..playoffs..I have until first pitch today to decide. Thank you for any help.
If I had any other option that was even a 50/50 chance of having a good game and I were in the first round of the playoffs I would start that player. We haven't heard anything on Young and that makes you wonder. Could he pitch? Sure. But normally if he were going to pitch on Wednesday or Thursday we would have heard SOMETHING by now. I have him on my team and I'm lucky enough to have a bye. It would be a tough decision this week but I don't think I would start him if I had someone else to put in his place.
I'm not throwing him out there until he shows he's able to pitch well again. I'm already at +41 IP in that league, so I gotta sit somebody sometimes anyway, and given how badly CY has sucked for his last few outings, I'm leaving him on the bench until I get some assurances he's not still damaged goods...
I made the mistake of starting him this week in round 2 of our playoffs. I really didn't have much choice since my only other option was Chuck James but man that was a tough outing especially after the night before Arizona looked terrible. He must still be hurt at least a littler and is trying to pitch with pain due to the playoffs. He just does not look good.
