I like your ranking. I'd definitely put Oswalt third. For all the talk about his declining K/9 rate, it's really not THAT far off the past 2 years. His walk rate is way up though, which is a little scary.

Verlander's pretty tempting to rank 1, given his age and the idea that a monster season is right there for him, but Webb's consistency wins me over.

Webb and it's not close.

These are just 3 random SPs? Any method to choosing these 3?

verlander hasnt been very good at all lately (conveniently since i traded for him). webb is my obvious number 1, verlander 2, oswalt 3. given just the fact that webb plays in the nl and verlander in the al is enough to separate the two into 1 and 2 rather than 1a and 1b is enough for me

Webb's playing in the NL is slightly offset with the fact that Verlander pitches in a hitter's park (albiet in the AL), while he pitches in a hitter's park. However, that does not change the fact that Webb is the # 1, Verlander the #2 with Oswalt coming in third.

I'd say it is close. But to the method of choosing, it was mostly just random. Did it need to be calculated? Its just a discussion starter on guys who could be rated much different from person to person. I saw a little discussion on Webb and Verlander and thought I would see what some of the opinions are here. I think Verlander is much closer to Webb than some may think. And I'm not near the fan of Oswalt as some are.

I'd like to hear your opinion on "Webb and it's not close". What exactly do you mean here? Do you mean Webb is a top 5 SP and the other two aren't even top 10 or 15....or...do you mean that they are only a couple spots different in the rankings but because of Webbs consistancy that you wouldn't think twice about taking him?

Anyway, just discussion is all. Thats all I'm trying to accomplish. Like I said, I'm kinda bored with the current topics we have going so I figured I'd change it up a bit! ;-D

I think Webb is in a class by himself from the three. Verlander and Oswalt are toss ups depending who can stay healthy.
