His offense has been fine, but his defense has just been pathetic. With the young gun Ian Stewart up and playing well in an extremely limited role, I wouldn't be surprised to see him nab a start or two.

Atkins has to play today. There is no way Atkins will be platooned, at least not in a pennant race. Stewart's time will come post Helton era when Atkins moves to first. Besides, Atkins is hitting right handers better this year anyways.
