Oswalt pulled in fifth versus Padres
An inning after being visited by the trainer, Roy Oswalt was pulled after giving up two runs in the fifth Saturday against the Padres.
Oswalt was very sharp early on, but something appeared to happen when he was warming up for the fourth inning. The trainer and manager Phil Garner came out to see him just two pitches into the inning, and although Oswalt convinced them he should stay in, he just didn't seem the same afterwards. His fastball velocity wasn't where it usually is, and he started throwing his curveball much more frequently. Perhaps it wasn't an arm problem, but we're quite concerned. Aug. 18 - 11:31 pm et

figures...i've had pence, ray, utley, and beltran on the DL the last month. one more wouldn't be a surprise

but really - let's hope for the best for oswalt. he's had a great second half and i hope he can finish off the season strong.

The dreaded "strained oblique" claims yet another victim...

Oswalt exits with oblique strain
Roy Oswalt left Saturday's game because of a strained left oblique.
While we take issue with a lot of the things the Astros do, we sure do appreciate the extremely quick injury updates. Oswalt is no stranger to oblique problems. Hopefully this is one the minor ones that won't result in a disabled list stint. The Astros are calling him day-to-day. If they are forced to put him on the DL, they could call up top prospect Troy Patton to replace him in the rotation. Aug. 18 - 11:41 pm et
