Owings is currently 4-4 with 2 hr and 6rbi..how many times has a pitcher had a multi hr game?

I think Mike Hampton did it before....but I'm sure it doesn't happen very often. I would guess 6 RBI for a pitcher might be a record.
Hey Diamondbacks, Play him in the field.

I think Mike Hampton and Dontrelle Willis did it.

Not wholly surprising considering Owings was an All American utility player in college. In fact, IIRC his hitting stats were relatively better than his pitching stats in college.

When he was at GT, he was DH when he didn't pitch. Very fine batsman.

On July 3, 1966, Tony Cloninger of the Atlanta Braves hit 2 GRAND SLAMS in the same game. He got 9 RBIs in that game, a MLB record for a pitcher that holds to this day.
http://www.baseball-almanac.com/box-sco ... 6607030SFNOn May 13, 1942, Jim Tobin of the Boston Braves hit 3 home runs in the same game.

I remeber Darren Dreifort doing it, but it was already noted in the link...I was so excited to share that random piece of knowledge too...oh well. He's a Dodger and therefore deserves to be mentioned twice anyway.
Go Blue!
