Wow, I'm impressed with 16 HR in 261 AB, but man, 92 KOs??!!
That's a strikeout less than every three at bats. He could come close to Dunn's record if he gets a full season.

Case in point, I picked Fields up off waivers for Friday's double header against Boston, then with reports of impending rain, I sat him down in favor of Giambi at Detroit. As I was listening to the Boston game I kicked myself for benching Fields after he hit a 2 run homer early in Game 1, as both games went out without a rain delay or PPD.

His statline for the two games was...
H/ABR H HR RBI SB BB AVG
1/8 1 1 1 2 0 1 .125

I have Fields pegged as the latest Aubrey Huff - his best performances come while he is sitting on the Waiver Wire - add him for three or four days and watch him rack up a 3/18. Or worse.

Yeah, I hear you. Fields is the 3B version of Felipe Lopez.

One great week then 4 bad ones.

He`s young though. Maybe he`ll phase some of those Ks out and make himself a viable option in years to come.

Hm. He's actually done the opposite for me. The last 3 times I've plugged him in (if one of my guys is off) he's put one out. To be honest, he's been putting up Adam Dunn type numbers in his first half season, which isn't necessarily a bad thing for a rookie. If only he could shake some of those K's...

For this year Huff is gonna be better. I just picked him up myself.

Fields is worth a look if you can get him cheap in keeper leagues. But I cant stand guys that strike out all the time, no matter what the upside is. I look somewhere else if I can help it.

Fields is a guy to watch in the next few years. He's already shown good power in the majors and some speed in the minors. He still needs a ways to go on batting eye, though. Way too many Ks.
