According to Baseball America, 2007 first-round pick Matt Wieters signed with the Orioles prior to Wednesday's midnight deadline.
All that worrying and it turned out that every first-round pick signed. No terms yet for Wieters, but the Orioles surely had to give him one of the richest deals in draft history in order to land him. We were all ready to rip them to shreds if they didn't, but now they deserve credit for making it happen. Wieters, who draws comparisons to Jason Varitek, could be a regular as soon as 2009 and he may peak as an All-Star.

All 30 first-rounders are done. No. 5 overall pick Matt Wieters signed at the last second with the Orioles. He reportedly received a straight $6 million bonus, the second-highest in draft history behind Justin Upton’s $6.1 million as the No. 1 overall pick in 2005.
