Nice. I'm really happy about this. He easily has the potential to end up being the best hitter taken from this draft, as he already has plus-discipline and plus-pitch recognition. Now all he needs to do is fully develop his power (6'5", 240... BEAST) and be a bit more aggressive and this kid could be a STUD. Can't believe he fell to 14th with the Braves, as he compared very favorably to Josh Vitters and Michael Moustakas, the #2 and #3 overall picks.

Interesting that he only signed for 10% over slot and MLB made the Braves wait this long to announce. It has been rumored for about 3 or 4 weeks now that Heyward had signed already and was just waiting for MLB to approve the over slot deal. Heck he had even been seen in Florida working out with some injured Braves players.
I can't wait to get a chance to see what this kid can do. He was a top 3 bat in the draft and could become awesome. Hopefully he makes it to Myrtle Beach sometime next year, so I can get a good look at him.

It was a great pick by the Braves and I feel plenty of teams will regret not taking him in the future. As I see him as the best all-around bat in the draft personally, things can change but I like the kid a lot.

Same here. I go back and forth between Heyward and Wieters, with Vitters popping in now and then, but a lot of Wieters value is tied up in him catching, and I just think Heyward has much more potential than Vitters. It'll be nice to see these guys get into some games for the last month.
