Jason Bay's poor season

He's still a potential 275-30-100 guy so he'll have value in most leagues. But I think you can forget about him becoming the 40-20 guy that some experts thought he'd become after his big season in 2005. He's still young so anything's possible, but his skills (batting eye, etc.) all seem to be trending in the wrong direction.

I had bay last year and drafted him again this year because he fell to me at the right time in the draft.

I won't be fooled again next year. I took him as my number 2 OFer which was a mistake. I was hoping for a more consistant year.

Next year i'll consider him as a late 3rd or early 4th OFer on my team. He has been a major disapointment.

I remember having a heated argument in early 2006 as to who was more valuable in a keeper league, Bay or Holliday. I said Holliday was more valuable.

But I already have Bay targeted as buy-low candidate for next year's draft. He did have a monster 2005 and hit 35 HR in 2006. I suspect he'll be persona non grata after this disappointing year, and the upside is still there.

It's been an interesting offensive year...

2007 MLB Team Offensive Stats
HR/G - .983
2B/G - 1.882
SLG - .418
R/G - 4.706

HR/G haven't been under 1.000 in recent memory.
2B/G are at last year's levels, which were the highest since 2002.
SLG is the lowest it's been since 2002.
Despite that, R/G are higher this year than they were in '02, '03, & '05.

Pretty interesting trend with the HR down and 2B up since steroid testing began.

I wouldn't put that much stock into that. I assume it's a coincidence until proven wrong, but you never know.

Also, I question how much drug testing there really is, and how much they can actually test for. But that's for another thread.
