when they were on the desert island did the pilot cook the woman and feed it to the survivors telling them it was pelican? when the man then ate real pelican did he realize that it was not pelican he had eaten on the island, but his wife?

i think giantsfan is on the right track here.

the pilot cooked them his wife, called it pelican and then when he ordered the pelican at the restaurant it tasted different and then he realized it all came together and shot himself!
