Hey guys, I am in a 28-team dynasty salary league. I have Carlos Zambrano and I recently had a trade proposed to me. First I should say that pitchers have a lot of value in this league, and really good pitchers on the market are rare to find. Also, since this is the last year of Zambranos contract, I've been planning on franchising him, which would keep him on my team for another 4 years. Is this following trade a good deal?
He gets: Carlos Zambrano (2007)
I get: Gio Gonzalez (Whitesox) Eli Iorg (Astros) Eric Duncan (Yankees) Eddy Martinez-Estevez (Giants) Brian Anderson (Whitesox).....300,000 (2010)
I don't know if this a fair deal or not for me, and I was thinking of asking him to trade Sanchez/Jeffresss/Samardzija instead of Iorg. Here are the rest of his good specs: 1. Chad Billingsley A- 2. Felix Pie, B+ 3. Gio Gonzalez B 4. Jonathan Sanchez, B 5. Jeremy Jeffress, B 6. Reynel Pinto, B 7. Jeff Samardzija, B- (This was when he was undecided about baseball or football) 8. Tyler Colvin, B- 9. Eddy Martinez-Estevez, B- 10. George Kontos, B- 10. Eli Iorg, C/Eric Duncan, C
this is not a good deal. since you have the opportunity to franchise him, you need to be getting more in return. this other owner is offering you a bunch of fringe prospects along with Gio Gonzalez. If I could get Billz and Pie worked in I would start to think about it. If not, put Zambrano out there and see what else you can get.
I'd do it for Billingsley/Pie/Pinto. It's a fair deal assuming franchising CZam will cost a lot of money. Billingsley could be as good or better than CZam relatively soon anyway.

Ok thanks for the help guys. I think I'll offer Billingsley/Pie/Pinto or something along those lines. I also got another trade offer from a team willing to deal Donald Veal and another prospect. I don't think the other player he's talking about will be great but here are his other specs:
1- Alex Gordon A (the best prospect in baseball) 2- Tim Lincecum RHP, Grade A (terrific) 3- Donald Veal, LHP, Grade B+ (excellent stuff, needs to reduce walks) 4- Carlos Carrasco, RHP, B+ (took a major step forward with his command) 5- James Loney 1b B+ (right on the border of A-) 6- Gorkys Hernandez, OF, B- (very toolsy, young, strong GCL numbers) 7- Billy Sadler RHP, Grade B- (I like him best of all the middle relief candidates) 8- Kevin Frandsen 2B, Grade B- (is this too high?) 9- Trevor Cahill RHP, Grade B- (Raw but projectable and promising) 10-Fred Lewis, OF, Grade C+ (I like him better than this grade implies but he's getting old for a prospect) 11- Edgar Garcia RHP, C+(good arm but low strikeout rate is puzzling) 12- Joshua Bell, 3B, C+(intriguing power bat, breakthrough candidate)

I wouldn't even consider it if he wants to headline a CZam deal with Donald Veal.
If he wants to do Gordon or Lincecum, that's another matter

I think that's a little to much, dont you? I will have to franchise Zambrano next year, and although I am willing to do that, I think giving up 2 top tier prospects (Pie, Billingsley) along with one thats projected to be a #3 starter (Pinto) is a little to much. If I could take out Pie and add someone else, Id be interested.
