I just traded away one of my minor leaguers, so now I have to pick one up.
It's a 12 team league with an 8-man system, so in addition to any rookies in the majors now (guys like Gallardo, Lincecum, Braun, etc) there are 100 minor leaguers already taken.
Most of my minor leaguers are in the upper levels: Bruce, Rasmus, Antonelli, Asdrubal, Teagardn, Morales, with D Jennings the only one below AA.
So I was thinking of getting alower-end potential stud. The three I have identified are:
Angel Villalona. Obviously the hgihest upside and the one that everyoen knows about, but he's 17 and likely 3-5 years from even sniffing the majors.
Thomas Hanson - His K numbers are great, but he gives up a ton of walks, and a ton of homers
Tyler Herron - Not as good K#s as Hanson, but doesn't walk many and doesnt' give up many homers at al.
I'd probably go with Villanola here. He's about the only promising Giants hitting prospect the past 5 years. Trevor Linden was the other, but he's only semi-promising.
Are you interested in joining a 28 teams dynasty league? If so, PM me.
Villalona. You have to be impressed with a kid that is still 16 (SIXTEEN! until Monday at least) and putting up a .268/.342/.435/.777 in full-season ball, even if it is just rookie league. He has 14 XBH in 138 ABs, including 3 homers, and his BB:K is a pretty impressive 13:28; he only Ks 20.3% of the time, which is excellent for a 16 year old. There is nothing not to like about him so far; he has even outperformed his most-used comp, Miguel Cabrera, at the same level. Pick him up, just be patient with him!
C: Pierzynski 1B: Pujols 2B: Altuve 3B: Miggy SS: HanRam OF (x3): CarGo, M. Bourn, D. Jennings UTIL (x2): E. Encarnacion, C. Hart BN: Cuddyer, C. Ross, J. Montero

I can't disagree with anything wrote here at all. Have patience with Villalona and he could pay off for you in several years.
It's gonna suck that I will have to stare at him for four years on my minor league roster, but out of the 8 guys on my team, only Villalona and Desmond Jennings are below AA, and since we can only keep a finite amount of players each year, I guess it makes sense to spread out my talent at a bit.
