Is Casey Kotchman now a platoon player?

Postby KR » Wed Aug 08, 2007 10:38 pm

So I loved this guy's potential for the two years, and just missed out on him during the draft. After watching him do everything I thought I waited for him to slump, and then trade for him(Which I did). His contact rate, team, spot in lineup, made him a great buy low--And hes been getting back to normal the last two weeks.

But now hes missing some games against Left handed pitchers to Robby Quinlen?

Some questions,
--Is Quinlen good? Hes batting 260 right now.

Well your post is a bit off in it's question. Kotchman has always been a platoon player for the Angels this early in his career. They simply havent given him a shot to play full-time, though he is hitting over .300 in his 49ab's against LHP this year). The Angels are being simply stubborn in their ways right now instead of seeing Quinlan struggling, they think he will go back to his hitting ways against lefites (career .300 hitter/.500 slg% against lefties).
