Tim McCarver is awful...

Postby nyrblue2 » Wed Aug 08, 2007 2:36 pm

I have seen some people start to get off-topic in the Joe Morgan threads by talking about how bad Tim McCarver is (which he clearly is). I figured I'd start with a clean slate here. I mean the guy is bad, but he might as well stay on air because of the comedy he provides. I remember during the NLCS last year, he said something along the lines of "That pitch was up and in because it wasn't down and away." Could be a little off on that, but you guys get the drift.

Rant away!

You're preaching to the choir, sunshine. :-b

I remember in the 2002 World Series when Fox spotted Robin Williams wearing some dreadful-looking sunglasses and McCarver reckoned they were 3-D glasses. Then, McCarver goes into an unnecessary explanation of what 3-D glasses and Joe Buck halts him mid-sentence and says, "Stop. Please just stop." or something to that effect. :-b

This reminds me of the playoffs last year... Honestly I don't remember what game it was, and I don't even remember the circumstances really. I'm sure someone remembers- he was talking about Tyler Johnson for about 5 minutes and his history, thinking he was the one coming in, when it was actually Josh Kinney (could have been the other way around, I honestly don't remember).

What an idiot.

Hmm... So it would appear that Art owes Joe Buck some royalties, since his "Just stop it. Seriously." comment is nothing more than a variant on a theme.

And to think he wanted to mass produce shirts with that catchphrase. :-b

Art should've said that to me when I shellacked his paperweight squad last week. I would've obliged. O:-) :-D

That may be the single greatest thing Buck has ever done in an otherwise lackluster career as a broadcaster. I normally can't stand listening to him, and in all of the games I've watched where he had the call and McCarver was doing color, I don't think I've ever actually heard him call McCarver on his BS.

Also, his version is a plea with a weak 'please' thrown in there to buffer the impact of the message. Mine is a command...and clearly, it's the better of the two.
