he will be a starter next year... (below is what i posted in injuries & player updates thread on Joba): "just figured i would let you guys know...my dad told me that they are being very careful with him...if he pitches one inning, he has one day off, 2 innings, 2 days off, etc...and our local paper also said he will never pitch back-to-back days"

Well, he just pitched in his 3rd game and picked up his 2nd hold.

Is that the same paper that said that Rivera would never pitch more than 1 inning??

CBS sportsline said the same thing.
Chamberlain's first name is pronounced Job-uh, similar to the Star Wars character Jabba the Hut. Chamberlain sports a consistent 97 mph fastball and a hard slider. A starter by trade, the idea is to rest Chamberlain two days after he goes two innings, and one day after pitching one inning of relief. Consider him a viable middle reliever in any Fantasy league that uses them and a potential setup man for the relief-needy Yankees down the stretch.
What I am saying is that I take what the Yankees say over some site or some rag. The Yankees said that Rivera wouldn't pitch more than 1 inning per game this season yet he has done so numerous times. I guarantee you that, if he continues to pitch like he has, Chamberlain will see much more time once the games get more important. Are they going to defer to Farnsworth if they need big outs??

Let's not compare a 12 year veteran to a rookie who the Yankees are trying to protect. Cashman has said publicly what the "Joba rules" consist of. He will not be used in the middle of an inning, only to start one. He will not be used on back to back days. For 1 inning pitched, he will rest 1 day. For 2 innings pitched, he will rest 2 days. Could that change in 3 weeks in a highly important mid-September game? Wouldn't shock me. But for now, the Yanks ARE following those rules.
