I just don't see how we can possibly know anyone's potential at age 24.
how cant you? dont we assume we know the potential of 19 year year justin upton? or the potential for a 22 year old felix hernandez?
sure wright could hit 40 in an upcoming season and it wouldnt shock or surprise anyone. but you need to take an educated guess about his potential and my own is that he isnt a 40 hr type hitter.

I think the whole fun part about fantasy baseball is projecting guys like Braun. The reason why I prefer keeper formats is because you attempt to do this over a longer period of time. So you are not just collecting guys who are great right now but for the long term as well.
I think Braun is pretty projectable. When you look at his trend by adding up his college numbers which would be equivalent to A ball, MiLB and MLB, he looks like a .290+, 35 HR, 20 SB type hitter. Obviously it is safe to take Wright for next year since we have seen him put up these numbers at this level for several years now but I don't think it would be wrong to take Braun especially in a keeper league.

While Braun may live up to all this hype, I have this gut feeling David Wright wont be a "quickly fading star". Just a gut feeling though, no support for this exists.

My point is, I wouldn't be surprised if Wright hit 40. He's 24. He's a few years from his peak, so if he hits 28-32 this year, who says he can't hit 40 in a few years...

absolutely no one. you're 100 % right. no one can every safely project anyone. who's to say he couldnt hit 50, or 60? who's to say chone figgins wont bulk up alittle and start cranking out 25-30? you think wright has 40 hr potential, i dont. i think he can/will hit 30 and probably hit 40 once, but not consistently.
...and those 3-5 are really bunched up. Real tough to say. Long term, I like Braun more than Wright, but not by much. To say the least, I'd be pleased landing any of the 5.
