In a league heavy in HR's and power #'s I'd take braun

for this season: braun and wright are close in value. but if someone were to offer me wright straight up, i'd decline it. braun has made this season fun. why abandon that?

for 2008: if braun keeps up his pace, he will go just before or after wright next year. that would be quite an accomplishment either way. by the way braun is God and he could reverse the orbit of the milky way with one swing of his bat. all hail

Yeah well I was gonna change it to RyanBraunDisciples, but it's too much work. :-b

I don't have any real sound argument about taking Braun over Wright. I'm just going on results from a small sample size - I tend to be more of a risk-taker and it pays off for me more often than my tired old play-it-safe strategy. Anyways, that's the background on where I'm coming from when I choose someone like Braun over Wright. Sorry, I don't have anything better for you other than to say that Braun's performance sort of speaks for itself. I don't care about the sabermetric periphals - dude can rake.

Sorry to tell you this but Albert Pujols is the God of Baseball. Braun might be one of his Disciples but everyone must pay homage to Pujols.

I always choose the player with a major league track record(Wright in this case), but one could easily make the case for Braun.

In their respective minor league careers, their 162 game averages look like this:
Braun: .308/31hr/120rbi/101r/29 sb with a .910 OPS
Wright .288/20hr/99rbi/99r/29sb with an .858 OPS

I'll still take Wrights track record in the majors, but the numbers suggest Braun to be the better hitter, and this is coming from a mets fan.

i just dont really see wright's power potential. i dont ever see him hitting 40. sure he could go 30/30 which is awesome, and im not saying i would take braun over him. id more likely take wright over braun for next season RIGHT now. but if braun closes the season out like this, i may change my mind.
