Patterson is a good 2B in the minors though, ill be on the look
My guess at the lineup when Floyd plays would be...
1 Theriot SS - backup Cedeno
2 Fontenot 2B - backup Patterson
3 Lee 1B - backup DeRosa
4 Ramirez 3B - backup Derosa
5 Floyd RF - backup Pagan/Murton
6 DeRosa LF - backup Pagan/Murton
7 Jones CF - backup Pagan
8 Kendall/Hill C
9 Pitcher
This way they have 2 guys in the OF that can play all 3 OF positions (Jones and Pagan), 2 that can play LF or RF (Murton and Derosa), and a RF in Floyd. If they brought up Pie they would have an overload of OF (although I wish they would bring him up and send Pagan down). Some of DeRosa's time will be spent platooning with Floyd and Murton, and then they have him to also give Lee and Ramirez days off (so DeRosa should be in the lineup every day). Patterson will backup Fontenot, and Cedeno will backup Theriot (Fontenot could hit 1 and Theriot 2, but that's still up in the air).
One of the reasons that Patterson gets the call ahead of Pie may be the need of offense from a PH. Yes, Pie's numbers are better in the minors this year, but he has been given the chance and wasn't able to translate it into major league numbers.
